There are many variables which must be taken into consideration when building an aquarium: Volume, Length, Width, Glass Bracing, Metal Bracing, Wave Makers, etc… The glass thickness and aquarium heights provided on this page are just a guide and are completely flexible upon our discretion.

What is the cutoff height for 1/2″ glass on our rimless aquariums up to 24″ wide?

1. 20″ high, up to 48″ long.
2. 17″ high, up to 60″ long.
3. 16″ high, up to 72″ long.

What kind of a stand do I need for a Reef Savvy aquarium?

Professionally built by a licensed carpenter. The stand needs to be perfectly level and flat with no pressure points. It needs to have a solid hardwood plywood top and minimum of 1″ foam on top of the plywood. It may not sit on the perimeter of the stand like off the shelf aquariums with plastic trim, which ours do not have. Aquariums must come flush to stand edges, they cannot hang over edges or be supported by undersized stands. All intended structural support points must be in contact with their intended surface. Modifications made to our stands will void warranty. If you’re not using one of our stands, please email us your plans for approval. Stands that have not been approved by Reef Savvy will void warranty. Aquariums using stands bought through Reef Savvy have a 2 year warranty, Aquariums using stands approved by Reef Savvy have a 1 year warranty. It is the customers responsibility to contact Reef Savvy, submit the plans and get approval for stands not sold through Reef Savvy.

Do I need to put foam under my aquarium?

Yes, our aquariums require 1″ foam under the aquarium. Not doing so will void your warranty.

Do I need to put foam under my aquarium with a Phantom Bottom?

Aquariums with a Phantom Bottom only require the use of 1/4″ Neoprene or Polyethylene foam. On small aquariums, under 30″ long, the aquariums may be placed directly on a solid top, flat plywood surface with adequate support under it.

Do rimless aquariums have any bracing?

Most rimless aquariums with standard bottoms will have perimeter bracing on the inside bottom. Most rimless aquariums with Phantom Bottoms will not have perimeter bracing. All large rimless aquariums with standard or Phantom bottoms will have permitter bracing, in some case multiple layers.

  • In the aquarium industry you see many aquarium manufacturers. I've seen a lot and Reef Savvy aquariums are hands down the best aquariums money can buy. The time, effort and detail that goes into each one is unrivaled.

  • There are many companies that build aquariums, but maybe about 10 companies in the world who build custom aquariums of the finest quality, with special features matched with high end furniture and accessories. Reef Savvy is one of the best of this small group. Build quality is superb, and the Phantom Bottom and Ghost Overflow are unique. For such custom work you have to be patient. They don't crank them out fast.

  • We saw our first Reef Savvy tank at MACNA a few years ago, and were impressed with the attractive looks of it, the thoughtful design, and the top-notch build quality. When our mass-produced 300g tank failed back in 2015, we knew we never wanted to endure that nightmare again, and so we chose to go with a Reef Savvy custom build. Felix and his team were true professionals from the first phone call. He set our expectations about delivery time-frames up front, and was very accommodating of the special details we wanted. Even during the construction, Felix kept in touch with us for feedback on the design so that it would be sure to exceed our expectations. Was it worth the wait? Unquestioningly the answer is YES! The tank is a real showpiece; it is so very functional as well as good-looking. We're proud to be owners of a one-of-a-kind work of true craftsmanship from Reef Savvy.

  • Excellent tank with great advice on design and set up. Felix helped me every step of the way. I would have made some big mistakes were it not for his input. A true custom tank I have had made that turned out exactly the way I wanted for a new addition to my house. My architect was also floored when he saw it.
